Wedding Bouquets- Melt Weddings

Every time I see a brides bouquet I think how much work goes into the arrangement by talented florists. I'd love to think my creative talents would extend that far, but I'm pretty sure I'll leave it to those who know what they are doing.

The history of them goes back hundreds of years. The custom of bouquets has its origin in ancient times. Women carried aromatic bunches of garlic, herbs and spices as the strong-smells were thought to have mystical powers & ward off evil spirits. Then in later years different flowers had certain meanings, some were thought to have aphrodisiac powers.

I love simple bouquets, some with a bit of greenery, ones with complimenting colours, more extravagant and trailing designs, I can never decide which I prefer..they are all beautiful. But I love photographing them, whether it's in the shop or in the hands of the soon to be bride!

And there is something about flowers on a Wedding day.. the look, the smell, then tossing them in the air, to see who'll catch them!
Either way, there's no denying- even if you don't believe in the ancient meanings they once held, that they are somewhat just as magical!
